The strength of our relationship and communities plays an important role in outcomes ranging from income to health. This website uses privacy protected data from social media to measure social capital. This is a super cool tool to explore and understand social capital in communities. Three measures are mapped by county to include: Economic connectedness, cohesiveness, civic engagement.

Neighborhoods matter. Children who live in neighborhoods with quality schools, safe housing, access to healthy food, parks, clean air and economic opportunities air are more likely to grow into healthy, productive adults than children who do not have access to these resources. The Child Opportunity Index (COI) measures and maps the quality of resources and conditions like these that matter for children’s healthy development in the neighborhoods where they live. 

US Department of Health and Human Services designed the Maternal and Infant Mapping Tool to help federal, state, and local decision-makers and others visualize factors that affect maternal and infant health. Use the information to understand needs, plan programs, and target resources. This tool allows you to map maternal and infant health indicators and overlay demographic characteristics (like population density and number of births) and health resources (such as health centers and National Health Service Corps sites offering women’s health services), with information available down to the county level.

Many factors influence how well and how long we live, from our access to affordable housing or well-paying jobs to opportunities for a good education for our kids. The County Health Rankings model shows us how these factors work together and illustrates where we can take action to improve health and eliminate unjust barriers to opportunity.

Youth Risk Behavior Survey results help monitor adolescent health behavior changes over time, identify emerging issues, and plan and evaluate programs to support the health of youth.
